Art Curriculum Map

Year 7

In Year 7, students will explore the Formal elements of Art through a variety of creative activities. Developing and refining their drawing, painting, printmaking and 3D skills.
Each formal element: Line, Tone, shape, form, texture and colour will be visited through the year and students will begin to develop their artistic language and voice.
Drawing will feature in every project as a core skill that will enhance and support all other elements of the art course. Students will be encouraged to question artwork by
other artists and use their work as inspiration for their own personal studies.

Year 8

In Year 8 Art students will be building on their knowledge and skills of the formal elements in Art through themes that will enable them to develop a more personal response. Students will focus on observational drawing skills, developing their response to 3D forms in both 2D and 3D. Students will begin to select their own artists for inspiration and refine their ability to critically analyse and evaluate the work of others and their own. Experimentation with different media will enable students to experience a broad range of creative techniques, such as working with inks, textiles and recycled materials.
