French Curriculum Map 

Year 7

In year 7, we are starting French from the beginning learning the basics. Students will have the opportunity to take part in interactive activities in their MFL lessons in order to build up the confidence that they need to then work independently. We will also learn about family and how we can discuss our relationships with the members of our family. Students will be able to express their opinion on a variety of topics such as hobbies and free time, food or even holiday destinations. Each term, students will have a lesson about various French events such as Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day or the music festival.

Year 8

In year 8, students have the opportunity to revise the basics learnt in year 7. We will also learn about family and how we can discuss our relationships with the members of our family. students will also be able to express their opinions about a variety of topics such as their town, and their school and school subjects. We will discuss the benefits of a healthy diet and healthy lifestyle before finishing with talking about holidays. Each term, students will have a lesson about various French events such as Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day or the music festival.

Year 10

In their second year of GCSE curriculum, students will revise the basics along with the skills that were limited last year due to Covid restrictions. They will then move on to discuss their house and town, before debating and discussing topics such as poverty and the environment. In these topics, students will talk about ways to save the planet and the environment, and how they can help people in need thanks to charities. We will finish the year by learning about holidays before going and enjoying our summer holidays! They will also have access to a range of authentic resources to gain depth of understanding of French cultures
