Headteacher's Weekly Update

Dear Families

It has been an incredibly eventful week at Aureus, with so many events and special days to
celebrate.

For National Careers Week we hosted a Human Library event. The school was buzzing with
excitement as professionals from different fields spoke about their work and sparked the
interest of our students. Our students were actively engaged, asking insightful questions and
showing a genuine interest in the various career paths. We are grateful to our community for
supporting this fantastic event.

To celebrate World Book Day, we held a Shelfie competition where students had fun trying to
identify staff members' bookshelves based on some sneaky clues provided. You can check out
the pictures on our social media platforms if you want to get involved.

Last night we held a community quiz, led by our PCA. It was a lovely gathering, with lots of
laughter, and the added bonus of some Aureus Alumni joining us. A big congratulations to our
team of current Year 11 students who took the overall win! Thank you to everybody who attended,
It was wonderful to see so many engaging in our community event.

Our International Women’s Day celebrations were a huge success, with the “Let Girls Play”
football event providing a brilliant experience for our students. It was fantastic to see girls from
Year 7, 8 and 9 participating in football challenges all led by our female sports leaders. They
even managed to briefly get Mrs Knight in goal, although I am not sure she’d make the team in
the future.

Another big shout out to our Debating Club members. Last night they travelled to Reading for
the next stage of the Youth Speaker competition, securing a commendable 3rd place. Their
courage and determination is second to none, and we couldn't be prouder.

Finally, we had a lovely Open Morning welcoming lots more prospective families to the school.
We were really pleased to hear the positive feedback about the impressive learning
environment we have created.

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making another memorable week
at Aureus School. Now let’s hope the sunshine sticks around for the weekend.

Kind Regards

Kirsty Rogers
