STEAM Day '23

DAY

Yesterday was another exciting STEAM day for our students!

In Art, the students in Yr9 went cross-curriculum and combined maths with art. They took inspiration from Jasper Johns' Number pieces from the 1960s

In Dance with Miss King, the students put their fate in the roll of a dice or the toss of a coin...

Each student had to perform a dance move, based on the outcome of their dice/coin.

Yr 7 students were lucky enough to work alongside  'House of Fun',  who promote pathways and apprenticeship routes into engineering, offering an introduction into the role of an engineer. Students were focused yesterday building the Mars Rover using ibrick LEGO kits and electric motors, they were then posed with a challenge on how they might improve these and given the opportunity to re-design them.

Yr9 and10 were joined by JONAS Software: JONAS are part of a larger business called Constellation Software Inc. They buy software companies in niche vertical markets. They discussed with our students the routes into their careers, what they do. They then ran a bot challenge for the students.
Students, working in team, firstly had to build the bot, create a track and then programmed the bot by writing simple code to move around the track. The students were completely engaged with this activity and did so well.
