Marking Remembrance Day at our school
Staff and students fell silent at school when we paid our respects to the fallen on Remembrance Day at 11am.
Any of our students who are a member of the cadet forces for the RAF, Royal Navy or Army, along with Scouts and Guides, were encouraged to wear their organisation’s uniform for the day.
Despite the current lockdown and difficulties that the Coronavirus pandemic has caused us this year, it was very important that we mark the anniversary of the Armistice and join together in a communal act of remembrance.
It was very encouraging to see so many of you in uniform paying your respects to those service personnel who have died as a result of war or conflict over the years.
The sound of the bugle playing Last Post in the quad, at the heart of the school, was heard in all classrooms and was very moving, as was the wreath-laying in our remembrance garden - thank you to those who took part.
Here is a video of The Last Post, kindly played by a friend of Aureus, Jan Morter.
