Welcome to Aureus School

I am immensely proud to be the Headteacher of Aureus School. I have a passion for comprehensive education and I firmly believe that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed. My approach is driven by my belief in inclusive education and centred around high expectations of all students.

As the only co-educational comprehensive school in Didcot we have a fantastic student body whose range of attributes contribute to making Aureus School a vibrant community. I have the privilege to be working with a talented, dedicated and enthusiastic staff body who are passionate about inspiring our young people every single day, enabling them to thrive.

We are immensely proud of Freya, a Year 8 student, for receiving the Didcot Rotary Club 'Student of the Term' award for this spring term. To say that Freya deserves this recognition is an understatement. In addition to being an exemplary student—polite, kind, conscientious, thoughtful, and dedicated—Freya also puts in considerable effort outside of school. She is a county swimmer, attends swim practice after school, competes on weekends at early hours, and, on top of all this, Freya is a young carer for her mother. Well done, Freya, you really are an inspiring role model to your peers and a true Aureus ambassador.

Tips for Using Sparx Science for Revision Consistency: Complete weekly homework to keep key facts fresh. Use Support Resources: Watch the provided support videos if a topic is difficult; don't skip to the next question. Independent Work: While parents can help, it is recommended students work independently to allow the AI to accurately tailor the difficulty level to their actual understanding. Focus on Mistakes: Use feedback from completed tasks to identify weak areas that need more attention

'Corbett Maths 5-a-day' is a daily maths revision resource providing five short, mixed-topic questions, often used for daily practice to boost fluency and exam readiness at GCSE level. Ranging from Numeracy to Higher Plus, these tasks help students retain knowledge and improve exam performance by practising "little and often". https://corbettmaths.com/5-a-day/gcse/

On Saturday, 14th March, seven students from Years 8 and 9 took part in the Oxford Mock Magistrates Competition. They embraced various roles within a magistrates' court, working diligently to persuade the magistrates regarding the defendant's guilt or innocence. Each student performed admirably, showcasing impressive confidence while addressing the court. Notably, they were the only participants in the entire competition required to play two roles. They even faced off against the team that ultimately claimed the victory. Nathanial C, in Yr8, was honoured with the Highly Commended Legal Advisor award. All participants relished the experience, which turned out to be a remarkable learning opportunity.

Amazing effort from everyone at the GLF Netball Tournament yesterday: A Team – 5th place B Team – 7th place Three days ago, we celebrated International Women’s Day, yesterday we celebrated these 15 incredible girls. Mrs Adam couldn’t be prouder of their resilience, teamwork, and determination. Some played through injuries, others stepped up as the youngest members of the squad, in fact, our B team was the youngest team in the entire tournament. We are all so proud of the spirit these girls showed on and off the court!

Yesterday afternoon, we found ourselves with limited time and no set ideas, yet we were given the challenge of creating a brief, silent video to honour the National Year of Reading. Fortunately, six enthusiastic students stepped up to the plate! A heartfelt thank you to Benji, Evie, Freya, Georgia, Joseph and Millie, who not only embraced the task but did so with remarkable flair! You are all true stars! This video will be integrated into a larger collaboration involving other GLF schools.
