Governance
Aureus School is part of GLF Schools, a Multi Academy Trust (MAT) of 43 Primary and Secondary schools. The governance structure of the Trust had been developed to support both the culture of GLF Schools and the effective management of a large organisation. GLF Schools recognises the individuality of each school and that each school has its own distinct character and culture that is respectful of its community and context.
The Trust Board has overall responsibility for the school and has delegated the responsibility to implement and review the school's strategic plans to the School Standards Board (SSB) for Aureus School.
The SSB has the following core responsibilities:
- Strategic oversight of the education provision of the School
- Strategic oversight of compliance of the School with Trust Policies
- Supporting the Trust Board to ensure good governance across the Trust

Local to School and keen to support my local community
Second time being a school Governor, previous school was a primary in Surrey, relocated 3 years ago, being involved in SSB was a way to get closer to my new community and understand the type of changes in secondary schools compared to when I was at school 30 odd years ago.
I am a professionally qualified senior HR practitioner with 20 years experience which brings complimentary skill sets to support the strategic element of SSB, used to reviewing policies for example and thinking about longer term impact of decisions on people, of in this case the students and teaching staff. Personal interest in secondary education with a teenage son and 3 teenage stepchildren, understanding focus areas help support at home. Keen interest in safeguarding.
