Masterclasses in everything from drama to history are being held at our school to give potential pupils a chance to explore its curriculum.
We host the classes which are aimed at Year 5 pupils from primary schools who can experience a full range of subjects from now until the end of April.
The series started in the science lab at the start of term before moving onto modern foreign language and art. A masterclass in dance is next in the sessions to be followed by English, maths, catering and hospitality, drama, history, geography, music, computing and PE will round off the initiative.

“Our Year 10 dance students are taking the lead in an energetic, high-spirited masterclass designed especially for the Year 5 pupils. The session focuses on building confidence, creativity and teamwork through movement,” said Amy King, head of performing arts.
“The Year 10 leaders have planned a fun warm-up, a simple but dynamic routine and a series of upbeat group activities that encourage younger students to explore rhythm and expression.
"Their aim is to create a welcoming, positive atmosphere where Year 5s can try new skills, enjoy dancing and experience what it feels like to learn from older role models at Aureus School.”
A Masterclass in Modern Foreign Languages was held earlier this month when different languages and cultures were explored alongside tips for learning new languages. There were also activities to encourage practice and communication.
“Our Year 5 Masterclasses are a fantastic way for students to begin to get to know Aureus School," said Headteacher Kirsty Rogers. "They provide an exciting opportunity to experience the wide range of subjects and activities we offer, meet our dedicated teachers and staff, and start feeling at home in their new surroundings. These sessions help build confidence and familiarity, ensuring a smooth and positive transition when they join us in Year 7.”
Our Year 10 dance students took their class on the road this week when they led sessions for Year 5 and 6 children at Harwell Primary School, also in Didcot.

“I was extremely proud of the dancers for the way they represented the school, demonstrating professionalism, patience and strong communication skills throughout the session,” said Miss King.
