Headteacher's Weekly Update

Dear Families,

I hope this message finds you well.

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting the Year 9 students during their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award practice expedition. It was fantastic to see them navigating their routes with confidence and teamwork. The DofE Award is such a valuable experience for our young people, helping to develop their resilience, independence, and perseverance. Our students demonstrated all of these qualities in abundance – we are very proud of them.

This week, we also held our final session of the year with Humanutopia. Our student Heroes were exceptional, once again stepping up as role models and mentors to their peers. Throughout the programme, they have shown incredible growth in confidence, empathy, and leadership, and it has been a joy to watch them support and inspire others.

We were also pleased to welcome Paul Watts, who delivered an inspiring talk to our Year 10 and 11 students interested in careers within the Armed Forces. Paul spoke passionately about the many different routes available, and encouraged students to focus on gaining strong qualifications as a foundation for future success. His message certainly sparked ambition and interest among those who attended.

Our Year 5 visitors took part in a History Masterclass this week, which proved to be an engaging and thought-provoking session. It was lovely to see their enthusiasm and curiosity in action.

To end the week, we celebrated Culture Day – a truly wonderful event that was entirely organised and led by our students. It was uplifting to see so many pupils dressed in traditional cultural attire or proudly wearing the colours of their national flags. They shared stories, traditions, food, and knowledge in a spirit of unity and celebration. The day highlighted the rich diversity within our school community, and we couldn’t be prouder of their efforts and the sense of inclusion they promoted.

Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend.

Kind Regards,

Kirsty Rogers
