Headteacher's Weekly Update

Dear Families,

It has been a fantastic week at school, with so much going on across our community. It has been a pleasure to see our students engaging so positively in school life and making the most of the opportunities available to them.

This week, I had the privilege of meeting with our Year 11 Head Prefects and Deputy Head Prefects to discuss the development of a dedicated Year 11 community area. The aim is to create a space where students can step away from the hustle and bustle of the school day whilst having easy access to study materials and resources. Working together, we have designed what promises to be a welcoming and productive environment, and we are excited to see it nearing completion. Once open, the area will be available from 7:30am until 4:30pm each day, providing students with a place to work and study before school, during social times and after school.

I have also managed to visit most classrooms this week and have thoroughly enjoyed seeing the fantastic learning taking place across the school. It has been particularly pleasing to spend time getting to know some of our newer students and seeing how quickly they have settled into school life. Across the school, I have been impressed by the excellent routines students are demonstrating and the positive way they are engaging with their teachers and learning.

We are aware that the lunchtime queue continues to be a source of frustration for some students. Please be assured that we are working hard to address this issue. As part of our ongoing efforts to improve service, we hope to introduce an additional till next week, which should help to reduce waiting times and improve the flow of students through the dining area.

We ended the week with our first whole-school assembly of the academic year. It was a wonderful opportunity to bring the school community together, share our key priorities for the year ahead and launch our first House Competitions. There was a real sense of excitement and enthusiasm from students, and we look forward to seeing the friendly rivalry develop over the coming weeks as students earn points for their houses through participation, achievement and contribution to school life.

We are looking forward to welcoming families to our upcoming Parent Information Evenings. These events provide an important opportunity to share key information, strengthen home-school partnerships and support students in achieving their very best throughout the year.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Ms Kirsty Rogers
Headteacher
