Headteacher's Weekly Update
Dear Families,
Our Key Stage 4 Geography students had a fantastic field trip to Swanage, where they investigated coastal landscapes and geographical processes first hand. Experiencing geography beyond the classroom is such an important part of learning, and our students represented the school brilliantly throughout the visit.
We were also incredibly proud of a group of Year 8 students who attended the Oxford University Kids' 6th Conference. They delivered outstanding speeches, demonstrating confidence, maturity and excellent public speaking skills. It was wonderful to see them challenge themselves and embrace this prestigious opportunity.
This week, Humanutopia visited us to begin training our HEROes in preparation for Summer School. Our older students continue to impress us with their leadership, responsibility and commitment to supporting others. They are exceptional role models for our younger pupils and will play a vital role in helping our new Year 7 students feel welcomed, confident and excited as they prepare to join our school community in September. We are incredibly fortunate to have such caring and dedicated student leaders.
On Wednesday, we celebrated the remarkable art of our students with a stunning exhibition of artwork. The creativity, imagination and skill on display were truly inspiring and reflected the hard work and dedication of students across the school.
The celebrations continued into the evening with our annual Celebration Evening. This is always one of the highlights of the year, providing us with an opportunity to recognise students who consistently embody our school values in everything they do. Their achievements, character and contributions to our community make us immensely proud.
During the evening, we were also delighted to announce our new Head Prefects following a rigorous selection and interview process. I would like to congratulate those appointed and I would also like to acknowledge every student who put themselves forward. The quality of applications and interviews was exceptional, and each student demonstrated courage, ambition and a genuine desire to serve our school community. I am incredibly proud of how much they have grown and developed.
Towards the end of the week, our Year 7 students enjoyed an exciting trip to LEGOLAND, where they explored the world of robotics and engineering through hands on learning experiences. It was a fantastic opportunity to develop problem-solving, teamwork and technological skills in a fun and engaging environment.
Finally, our Year 10 Silver Duke of Edinburgh's Award students set off on their expedition. This challenging experience will test their resilience, teamwork and determination, and we wish them every success as they complete this important stage of their DofE journey.
As this week demonstrates, our students continue to embrace every opportunity available to them, whether in the classroom, out in the field, on stage, through leadership roles or whilst taking on new challenges. Their enthusiasm, commitment and achievements make us immensely proud.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Kind regards,
Kirsty Rogers
