Headteacher's Weekly Update
Dear Families,
We were incredibly proud to see a number of our Year 8 students attend their The Brilliant Club Scholars Programme Graduation this week. The Brilliant Club has supported our students to experience university-style learning, guided by PhD researchers and academics. Throughout the programme, students took part in challenging tutorials, developed their critical thinking skills and completed a final assignment which is assessed using university grading criteria. Our Year 8 graduates demonstrated exceptional commitment, resilience and academic curiosity throughout the programme, and we were delighted to celebrate their success at graduation. They should be tremendously proud of everything they have achieved.
This week we have also been extremely proud of our Year 9 and Year 10 Heroes, who have supported our Rising Year 7 cohort during their transition days. They have shown outstanding leadership through their compassion, encouragement and confidence, helping our new students to feel welcomed, supported and excited about joining our school community in September. Their maturity and kindness ensured that our rising Year 7s enjoyed two wonderful days and gained a real sense of belonging. They have been exceptional ambassadors for our school and we are immensely proud of them.
On Friday, we waved off our World Challenge team as they embarked on their expedition to Morocco. Over the coming days they will be working alongside a local community, contributing to meaningful projects while developing their own resilience, independence and global awareness. Experiences such as these provide young people with invaluable opportunities to broaden their horizons, learn about different cultures and make a positive difference to the lives of others. We wish them a safe, rewarding and unforgettable journey and look forward to hearing all about their experiences when they return.
Our Year 7 students have also enjoyed a fantastic team-building day, filled with activities designed to strengthen friendships, develop confidence and foster a sense of community. For some students, the adventure continues this evening as they remain on site for our much-anticipated school camp out. We hope they have a wonderful evening making memories with their peers and staff.
Finally, we were very disappointed to have to postpone Sports Day this week due to the weather. However, we are pleased to confirm that Sports Day will now take place on Thursday 16th July. We know how much students and staff look forward to this event each year, and we cannot wait to celebrate the enthusiasm, teamwork and sporting spirit of our school community. I am also aware that many members of staff have been preparing for the eagerly anticipated staff race for quite some time, and I know students will be looking forward to cheering them on!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Have a wonderful weekend.
Kind regards,
Kirsty Rogers
