Support for Phone-Free Schools

Since taking on the role of headteacher, Kirsty Rogers has continually voiced her concerns regarding the impact of mobile phones in schools and the necessity of better supporting educational institutions in fostering distraction-free learning environments. Ms Rogers was fortunate enough to discuss these issues with Matthew Barber, particularly emphasising the need for funding to assist schools in effectively implementing mobile phone bans. She is thrilled that he truly listened to the voices from the schools.

On Friday, 26th June, Aureus School proudly hosted an event where Matthew announced new funding to aid schools in establishing effective mobile phone policies. This marks a significant step toward creating the ideal environment for teaching and learning.

Kirsty extends a heartfelt thank you to Yondr for their support of the event, as well as to all the colleagues from across the Thames Valley who participated in this vital discussion. It was inspiring to witness so many school leaders coming together to prioritize children’s education.

Together, they can ensure that classrooms remain spaces where every child can focus, learn and thrive.
