Headteacher's Weekly Update
Dear Families,
As we reach the end of a particularly eventful and unusually warm week, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our staff, students and families for the calm, resilient and thoughtful way in which you have navigated the changes brought about by the extreme heat. Adjustments to routines are never without challenge, yet our community has demonstrated remarkable adaptability and consideration for one another throughout.
Our students, in particular, have been exemplary. Their positive attitudes, maturity and continued commitment to learning, even in uncomfortable conditions, have been a real credit to them and to the values we uphold as a school.
I was especially delighted to hear about Year 9’s visit to the battlefields this week. It was an incredibly meaningful experience, and I have received such positive feedback regarding the way our students conducted themselves. Members of the public commented on their respect, curiosity and impeccable manners. They represented the school with great pride, and we are immensely proud of them.
Similarly, Year 10 have spent the week out on work experience placements. I had the privilege of visiting a number of our students and speaking with employers about their progress. It was both heartening and inspiring to hear how well they have embraced the opportunity, demonstrating initiative, professionalism and a willingness to learn. Experiences such as these are invaluable, and it is clear that our students are already making a strong impression in the wider world.
This week has also been one of reflection and celebration. We bid a fond farewell to our Year 11 students with a final assembly filled with memories and messages of encouragement. This was followed by a wonderful prom, where students celebrated their time with us in style, thankfully in the comfort of an air-conditioned venue. It was a fitting way to mark the end of an important chapter. We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved and look forward to seeing the paths they will take in the future.
At times like these, I am reminded that a school is far more than a place of learning; it is a community built on relationships, shared experiences and mutual support. This week, despite the challenges, has been full of moments that highlight the kindness, resilience and spirit that define us. It is these qualities that ensure our students not only succeed academically, but grow into thoughtful and compassionate individuals.
Thank you once again for your continued support. I wish you all a restful and cooler weekend.
Kind regards,
Kirsty Rogers
