Headteacher's Weekly Update

Dear Families,

Firstly, I must express how immensely proud we are of our Year 11 students, who have now completed all of their GCSE examinations. The resilience they have demonstrated, particularly in these final weeks, has been exemplary. Many have shown true determination, persevering even when understandably exhausted by the demands of the examination period. Their commitment and positive approach have been a credit not only to themselves but also to our school community. We very much look forward to celebrating their achievements next week at the Leavers’ Assembly, followed by the much-anticipated Prom, both of which promise to be memorable occasions.

Our Year 10 cohort are now beginning to step into the role of senior students. This week, they have completed their first formal set of mock examinations. These assessments are an important milestone, helping to prepare them for the year ahead whilst also providing valuable insight for staff. The outcomes will enable us to analyse progress carefully and adapt our teaching plans, ensuring that we consolidate areas of strength and provide additional support where needed. We are confident that this experience will serve as a firm foundation for their final year.

Across the rest of the school, it has been a week rich in opportunity and achievement. On Tuesday evening, we were delighted to host our Summer Music Concert. The standard of performance was truly impressive, with students showcasing not only their musical talent but also remarkable confidence and stage presence. It was a pleasure to see such a wide range of abilities and styles represented, and the audience thoroughly enjoyed the evening. My sincere thanks go to our performing arts department for their dedication in preparing students to such a high standard.

In addition, I would like to extend my thanks to Mr Hayden and the supporting staff who accompanied a group of students to a recent Cricket World Cup fixture. This experience has greatly supported the enthusiasm and engagement we are seeing within our school cricket club. Students had a wonderful time, and it is opportunities such as these that enrich their wider school experience and foster a lifelong love of sport.

Finally, I would like to acknowledge the tremendous efforts of the Friends of Aureus, who have been working tirelessly to organise our upcoming Summer Fair, taking place on Saturday 11th July. Planning for such an event requires significant commitment, and we are extremely grateful for their hard work and dedication.  It is also encouraging to see our advertising boards beginning to appear locally, thank you to everyone who has volunteered to display the boards. We very much look forward to welcoming you all to what promises to be a fantastic community event. Raffle tickets are now available to purchase online at just £1 per ticket, be in with a chance of winning some truly brilliant prizes, including: A Family Annual Pass for Blenheim Palace, Crocodiles of the World tickets, A Family Ticket for Oxford Ice Rink, Oxford Playhouse theatre tickets to name but a few.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Kind regards,

Kirsty Rogers
