Headteacher's Weekly Update

Dear Families,

What an energising and uplifting week it has been here at school. The building has been buzzing with purpose, pride and possibility, exactly the atmosphere we want for our young people as they move through this busy part of the year.

This week we welcomed families from our surrounding primary schools for three Open Mornings, and I could not be prouder of how our students represented us. Their confidence, kindness and maturity shone through in every conversation and every tour. Our visitors consistently commented on the warmth of our school culture and the enthusiasm of the students who guided them. Moments like these remind us how strong our community is and how bright the future looks for the next generation joining us.

Our Year 10 students have continued with their mock exams, and their attitude has been exemplary. They have shown real determination, resilience and a growing sense of responsibility for their learning. These qualities matter just as much as the grades themselves, and it has been wonderful to see them rise to the challenge.

We have also had many of our Year 11 students in school this week sitting their GCSE exams. Their calm focus and hard work have been evident in every exam session. This is a demanding period, but they are meeting it with maturity and a strong sense of purpose. We are incredibly proud of them and will continue to support them every step of the way.

This morning we waved off our Year 9 Bronze Duke of Edinburgh students as they set out on their expedition. Spirits were high, rucksacks were packed, and the excitement was infectious. We hope they have a fabulous time, make wonderful memories, and fingers crossed get to enjoy a bit of sunshine along the way. Experiences like this build confidence, teamwork and independence, and we can’t wait to hear all about it when they return.

As we move into next week, we will continue to build on this momentum. Our students are showing us daily what they are capable of, and it is a privilege to watch them grow into confident, thoughtful young people.

With that in mind, a quick reminder about our water only expectation during the school day. To support students’ wellbeing and focus, bottles should contain water only. Drinks such as squash, juice, fizzy drinks, and energy drinks are not permitted in school and will be confiscated if seen.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support. It makes all the difference.

Warm regards,

Kirsty Rogers
