Headteacher's Weekly Update
Dear Families,
This week has been particularly encouraging across the school, and it has been wonderful to see our Year 11 students approaching the start of their GCSE examinations with such focus and determination. With the Modern Foreign Languages speaking examinations and the Art examination now complete, the GCSE season is well and truly underway. We are immensely proud of the hard work, resilience and commitment our students are demonstrating. I would also like to extend a huge thank you to our staff, whose dedication, care and professionalism continue to support our students at this crucial time.
Congratulations must also go to our Year 7 and Year 8 students who took part in the Junior Mathematics Challenge this week. Organised by the UK Mathematics Trust, this nationally recognised competition is designed to encourage mathematical reasoning, problemâsolving and precision of thought through a series of engaging and challenging questions. The Challenge is taken by thousands of students across the country each year, and we are proud of all those who represented our school so positively. We very much look forward to receiving and celebrating the results.
Our Year 10 dance students also enjoyed an enriching opportunity this week, taking part in a contemporary dance workshop led by Abi from Creative Dance Academy University. Workshops such as these provide valuable exposure to professional techniques and creative approaches, and it was a pleasure to see students working with enthusiasm, confidence and creativity.
I would like to conclude by sharing some very exciting news from our community partnership. A huge thank you to the dedicated core team at Friends of Aureus, as this week we signed the formal declaration that will allow the group to gain charity status. This is a significant milestone and will enable the Friends of Aureus to raise additional funds and distribute them across the school to support our students and enhance their experiences. We are particularly excited to begin planning our fundraising activities for the 3G pitch project in the near future.
On that note, preparations for our Summer Fair are already underway. If you are happy to have a board in your garden to help us advertise the event, we would be very grateful—please let us know if you are able to support us in this way.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our school community.
Kind regards,
Kirsty Rogers
