Headteacher's Weekly Update

Dear Families,

Last week I wrote my newsletter just before the wonderful Creative Arts Showcase at the Cornerstone, and what an event it turned out to be. The dancing, the singing, the performances… every moment was incredible. Our students once again stepped out of their comfort zones and made us immensely proud. A special shout out must go to our Year 11 dancers, who choreographed the majority of the routines and showcased their outstanding GCSE work. We are so proud of each and every one of you.

As if that wasn’t enough, this week has been just as inspiring and incredibly busy.

On Tuesday, we had the privilege of hosting the GLF Leadership Conference. It was a fantastic day of collaboration, bringing together leaders from across the trust with a shared commitment to ensuring that every child is noticed, seen and heard. It truly embodied what it means to be “One GLF.”

Meanwhile, our Technology department hosted a Year 10 MasterChef style competition in partnership with Café 33 and the Burro Lounge. We are so grateful to our local community partners who continually support and enrich the experiences of our students. The creativity, confidence and culinary skills on display were exceptional.

Wednesday brought even more opportunities for our Year 10 students, who attended CareerFest, a brilliant chance to explore a wide range of career paths and speak directly with employers and providers. Later that evening, we welcomed our Rising Year 7 families for our Post Offers Evening. The hall was absolutely packed, and it was wonderful to meet so many excited students and parents as we talked through the transition process. We are already looking forward to welcoming them into our school community.

On Thursday, our focus turned to online safety. Throughout the day, students engaged in sessions about how to stay safe online and how to seek support if something ever feels wrong or unsafe. These conversations are vital in today’s digital world, and we were pleased to continue them in the evening through our parent event. Thank you to all who joined us,  together we can help young people navigate the online world with confidence and security.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support. It has been a week full of creativity, community and connection, and I am continually reminded of what a privilege it is to lead such a vibrant school.

Wishing you all a restful weekend.

Kind regards,

Kirsty Rogers
Headteacher
