Headteacher's Weekly Update

Dear Families,

Our Year 10 students taking part in the Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award had a fantastic expedition over the weekend. While a few returned with some well-earned muscle aches, the experience was hugely positive for all involved. I’m particularly pleased that they will be sharing their experiences with younger students as we look to inspire the next cohort to take part in the programme.

On Monday, we were pleased to welcome ITV News to Aureus School. They interviewed a number of our students about our mobile phone policy and how it supports teaching and learning. Please stay tuned to our social media channels for details of when this will be aired. It is heartening to see our students appreciating the benefits of a smartphone-free school environment.

Our Year 11 students have settled into the exam season, having sat many of the large exams this week. They have demonstrated incredible resilience and focus, and we are all extremely proud of the maturity and dedication they have shown during this important time.

On Wednesday evening, we held our annual Quiz Night in partnership with Friends of Aureus. It was lovely to see so many teams taking part and enjoying the friendly competition. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the event – it was a real celebration of community spirit.

Thank you to all the Year 7 families who joined us for Progress Evening on Thursday. Strong relationships between home and school make a real difference to students’ learning and wellbeing, and it was a pleasure to hold these conversations in person.

Finally, we were delighted to host our first Summer Open Morning today and welcome prospective families to the school. A special thank you to our student tour guides, who showcased Aureus School so confidently and warmly — they truly were fantastic ambassadors for our community.

Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend.

Kind Regards
