Headteacher's Weekly Update
Dear Families,
There has been a wonderful sense of community and inclusion in school this week, following the success of Culture Day last Friday. The atmosphere on the day itself was celebratory and respectful—and it’s been heartening to see those same values carried forward by our students in the days since.
This week, our Year 11 students have begun their GCSE exams. We are so proud of their dedication and hard work in the lead-up to this important moment. Their commitment has been inspiring, and we have every confidence that they will do themselves proud.
We were also honoured to be part of the 80th anniversary of VE Day commemorations taking place in the wider community. I was joined by two of our students in representing the school at a local remembrance event. Elsewhere, a group from Aureus choir visited Meadow Care Home, where they delivered delicious scones made by students in Hospitality & Catering, and performed for the residents. This kind of community involvement is something we value deeply, and I’m so proud of the thoughtful way our students contributed.
I had the pleasure of visiting our Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award students during their expedition. After a challenging walk, they enthusiastically demonstrated their cooking skills, clearly proud of what they had achieved! From what I’ve heard, the final day has gone very well, and we are looking forward to welcoming them back to school next week and hearing more about their adventures. If you’d like to follow along with their progress, please do check out our DofE Instagram page.
Looking ahead, we are excited to be hosting the Quiz Night this coming Wednesday. If you haven’t yet signed up a team of friends or family, there’s still time! Click here for sign up details.
Finally, we are beginning preparations for the Summer Fair. We’re currently collecting donations for our raffle and bottle tombola—wine, soft drinks, or any bottled goods would be very welcome. Thank you to everyone who has already contributed; please continue to drop donations at the school reception.
Wishing you all a restful weekend.
Warm regards,
Kirsty Rogers
