Headteacher's Weekly Update
Dear Families
This week has been nothing but spectacular, as we welcomed Justice in Motion to our school to deliver their CODE performance. The dynamic performance included a blend of physical theatre, parkour and trial bike stunts, accompanied by live rap music, and highlighted crucial issues such as exploitation, county lines and knife crime. The students got involved in workshops run by the production company in addition to experiencing the performance on such a serious topic. We were also pleased to open our doors to the local community for an evening performance, ensuring the message reached as many people as possible.
There have been several trips and visits this week for our STEM provision, including a Year 8 visit to Rutherford Appleton Laboratories, where students were introduced to a range of career opportunities in scientific research and innovation. Our Year 9 students had a visit from Abbott, where they had the opportunity to learn about diabetes management as well as investigating themselves the concentration of sugars in different foods, gaining practical knowledge about healthy eating habits.
Our Brilliant Club graduates went to Bristol University this week to receive their certificates and to celebrate having successfully completed their assignments for the course. This gave them an opportunity to gain a better understanding of further education opportunities.
It has been a week of celebration as we hosted our awards evening for our Aureus Ambassadors on Wednesday. Students enjoyed an ice cream on arrival as a reward for exemplifying our school values of Ambition, Resilience and Respect. The event featured student speeches and performances which of course were an absolute delight to watch.
I couldn't be prouder of what our students have achieved this year, and being able to celebrate with them has been wonderful.
Wishing you a lovely weekend,
Kirsty Rogers
