Pastoral System
Aureus School is split into Year Group Teams, each of which are led by our Heads of Year (HOY) and who are overseen by Assistant Headteachers with responsibility for each of the Key Stages.
Each year group has a head of year and a team of coaches (tutors) Your child’s coach is your first point of contact for any school related concerns. Each year group team also has its own non-teaching member of staff, known as the Pastoral Welfare Leader (PWL).
We also have a number of non-teaching specialists, who work within the Pastoral Team and as such with the Year Group Teams and, who specialise with areas of need common to adolescents. These are our Attendance Officer, who works with Oxfordshire County Council to ensure that students attend school, our Designated Safeguarding Lead and Student Welfare Manager, who both deal with safeguarding and welfare concerns and our SENDCo, who is an expert in provision and interventions for students with special educational needs.

We strive to make every student feel safe and supported and adopt a proactive approach through tutor times, assemblies, our RSE curriculum - GZ, to provide guidance and personal development.
Students at Aureus School are split in Coaching Groups within year groups. Each year is led by a Head of Year and a Pastoral Welfare Lead, to provide support and oversee pastoral needs. The Pastoral Team is overseen by the Deputy Headteacher for Behaviour and Standards.
Every student has a Coach who will register them each morning whose role it is to provide initial pastoral support and together with their wider Year Group Team, will monitor all aspects of students progress at school.
We also work closely with internal and external agencies including our SEND support and Inclusion Team, local support charities, CAMHS, the School Health Nurse team, and wider social care to ensure that every student is able to thrive and maximise their ambition.
